It is true ~ heat may only offer temporary relief but in some cases it's better than being in pain. If you want something that may offer more help speak to your neuro about different medications or increasing what you are already taking.

      Hi Derrie, and everyone !

Your post could have been mine. Neuro just prescribed Gabapentin for me becaue of the pain in my body, mostly my legs.

I recently made a comment to my doctor that there has to be something to help with this pain. I can't believe that MS patients walk around all day in constant pain like I do. Being dx just last week, this is all still a mystery to me and don't think I have actually wrapped my head around the magnitude of this disease. The only thing that keeps me sane right now is my DH who is my best friend and tries to keep me from jumping off the cliff every day!!

Check Craigslist for that type of bed. You may just find one cheap.

I'd be very careful about buying a used mattress/bed because of the widespread bedbug infestation.

In fact, I wouldn't buy any used upholstered furniture at all.

I thought I'd mention a type of injection I've had that provided great relief.

It's called Platelet Rich Plasma and was done by a pain specialist. They take blood from you and spin it down to get a concentrated mix of platelets, which also contains your own stem cells. This is then injected near the nerve roots at the base of my spine. (It's not NEARLY as bad as it sounds!)

It took two series of injections about six weeks apart, but I got almost total pain relief in my legs for over a year. It's now coming back and I will go back for more injections as soon as I save the money.

It's something insurance does not usually pay for since it's considered "investigational" but they do pay for certain parts of it. I ended up paying about $600 for each series, but it was worth it to be pain free for a year.
