WII EXERCISE & CHECKIN GROUP 3/24/2011

    WOOHOO EVERYBODY! FANTASTIC WEEK!

Great job moving and checking in!

    GOALS MADE:
    TEN!!!
    GOAL MISSED:
    ONE (had priorities right though)

huntered, i counted you because you did 6 days + 55 mins. while having eye surgery this week! how is your eye?
SirVoor, sounds like a neat machine you've got there.
shrinkaren, you've really jumped in running! WOW!
Red, full house cleaning? super, wanna come to my house!
kathy, koko, seasha- super on making goal and then some!

newme, sparky & cc, you are doing just what my fit tip is about. keeping it balanced. good job!

    TIP FOR THE DAY:
Since a lot of us are concentrating on abs for weight loss and looks, I thought this was a bonus for those exercises.
From the Wii- 'Exercising your abs help raise abdominal pressure and improve digestive health.'
Great to know that it's helping our overall health. I know digestive problems affect a lot of us MSrs.

    PERSONAL FIT TIP:
Don't get overconfident and set yourself back like I did this week. I wheeled myself all over a large dept. store with my DD. Felt good until we were almost done with our 3 hr. shopathon. I got the shakes before making it to the car. Wasn't able to function well rest of evening or next day! So slow done and check how you're doing. If it's been years since you've been able to do an activity, don't get so excited that you overdo You will usually pay for it later.
Balance of activities is the key, even if you don't get your 'regular exercise routine' in.

    Keep up the good work!
Take care and God bless ya'll!

Hi y'all- Merry Christmas?? We just had 1 inch of sleet and 11 inches of snow over the last 2 days YUCK!!!!

I did make goal - was on the bike everyday- which is my main form of exercise. Did some extra cleaning, alot of bending, twisting, which also included afew "choice words" when the going got tough.

pooh- wow a 3 hour shopathon- I can't even imagine anything close - 20 to 30 minutes on my feet. Even though you used a chair, that was still exhausting for sure! Hope your feeling better now! I guess we never know if we can do things until we try, right? And then it's too late (he-he)!

Hope everyone is enjoying the springtime??? weather, and hope you all had a fantastic week!

I had an active week, but failed to live up to my goals.

My DW hurt her back and we spent hours in the ER Friday, and I have been her care giver sense then. (Along with our handicap dog’s sole care giver.)
Men are just not built or wired for care giving, but she is getting better much faster I thought she would.
So I guess I did not do that bad of a job.

Saturday morning I use my Full Body Sensor, and although I gained 1.4 lbs. (170.4-171.8)
I think much more importantly my body fat dropped from 21.1 to 18.4, and skeletal muscle increased from 36.5 to 38.1.
I love having proof and a way to measure improvements.

Instead of assembling the greenhouse last weekend, I did handicap dog and DW care, plus 4 hours brush clearing when they slept.
By brush I mean weeds, vines, small trees and bushes, I hate honey sickles weed brushes, also poison ivy that apparently was in there.

Anyway the reason I feel a failed this week, is because I feel abused my body too much and although I ate healthily but drank way too many sodas. And had no cardio workouts.

I am very happy to report that I did my full exercise routine for seven days again this week. I can scarcely believe it. For weeks I wasn't exercising at all except for a few exercises here and there. I seemed to be in depressive mode. I pray that my current momentum will last. I will set my goal at five full routines again this week. I am afraid to say seven because I may not be able to keep that up indefinitely. Blessings to all, Karen P.S.: Sparky, I can't believe all of the walking you do. That is outstanding. Keep up the good work.

I have been trying to get something done every day and I think this week I actually did it!

Five days on the elliptical with 3 days of additional exercise and one day of house cleaning. I actually bought a couple Mr. Clean Magic Erasers and wiped down the walls, doors, tub, etc. It was tiresome but rewarding. Oh, and there is so much more to do.

On my "off" day, I did some walking and a little yoga.

We will see what next week brings.

Pooh - a 3 hr. shopping spree? It would have done me in too. Hope you bought something special to make it worthwhile!!

I have had to adjust my "walking" goal because it's finally spring and there's so much to do in my yard and gardens. I kept busy each day however, so that counts! I managed to keep active for at least 1.5 hours each day & some days more. Maybe the Ampyra is starting to kick in? Maybe it's just springtime? Always feel better and more active this time of year....

Good suggestion about pacing yourself....think I did too much today and probably will pay for it tomorrow!

                Hi Everyone

Red - Yes, I would say you made goal++ with the cleaning, apartment hunting, and helping your Mom.

Seasha - All your daily activities definitely count.

Newme - Wow! Elliptical, exercise, and housecleaning.

Karen - Seven days again is great!

Sir-Voor - Sounds like you were very active to me. Better luck with your personal goals next week.

Casino - Sorry you got so much snow - good thing you got the indoor bike. Sounds like housecleaning is extra credit.

Pooh - Stores are so huge these days. And with MS, it seems like they've gotten even bigger! Hope you recover soon.

I made my 5 day goal (no extra this week):

2X Stationary Bike for 30 min each and arm exercises
2X Walk for 30 min each and arm exercises
                1 day grocery shopping, errands

Keep moving the best you can everyone!

                Take care,

koko, well said i 'ditto' all your comments.
hunterd, we got the snow today too! did you send it? it wasn't enough to have to shovel, but it was a shock after 70+ temps.
sparky- 80 mins of hiking! wow, i'd been facedown in the mud long before that! hope you're ok.

yes, the shopathon was definitely worth it! besides the fun of being w/ my DD. i bought a dress for her Naval grad. in May in a size smaller and 65% off!!! (and she totally approved of it and said her mom 'looked good'!!!! couldn't ask for more!

take care and God bless ya!

                        Sparky

Had to call my BF to come get me yesterday after almost planting my face in the mud and barely being able to get up. That was after 80 minutes of major hiking!
                        Thank goodness for cell phones!

                        Thank goodness for BF's!
