    Lymphatic system

I have been asking why for the last three months my lymph nodes under my chin and down the side of my neck swell and hurt.

Zero sign of an infection. No fever, no sinus congestion. No sore throat.

Just painful lymph nodes and fatigue

Hi ladibabe what a question, I did a quick search on google (yeah I know one shouldn't use google for diagnosis) lymph nodes can swell and be painful for a lot of reasons, you haven't started a new medication around that start period ? do you have pets didn't get a scratch from one ? it could be anything from std's to gingivitis but as you said no infection that would have been too easy, what did your DR have to say hopefully its nothing but if you haven't seen Dr get checked out Craig

        Hi ladibabe

Did your doctor mention Chronic Fatigue Syndrome as a possibility?

Hopefully you can get some answers and relief soon!

STD... OMG. No, I don't suffer from STD's.

Thanks guys for all your help. All the obvious reasons were researched prior to me asking the questions on this site.

Was hoping for some outside the box thinking. Constructive dialogue.

Actually, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is an excellent suggestion. It is not an "obvious" reason, and it's definitely "outside the box" because even in 2016, many (most?) medical professionals don't believe it exists.

If CFS is so obvious, were you sent to a specialist for a workup? Did you go through a battery of medical tests specifically indicated for CFS and a comprehensive evaluation? Or did your workup consist of, "Well, there's no such thing as CFS so you definitely don't have it"?

sorry ladibabe I was just joking about the std's on a more serious note, do you suffer from anxiety this can on rare occasions cause lymph nodes to swell but I'm not sure about pain. sorry again if I offended you Craig

Thanks for the apology. I accept. I don't think I suffer from anxiety, but I can't rule it out. I do have a stressful job but can't pinpoint my episodes to specific events in my life. I'll have to keep an eye on that in the future.

                    Swollen Lymph Nod

About 6 years ago I discovered swollen lymph nodes in my right underarm. Like you I also had no other signs of infection - no fever or soreness other than in those lymph nodes. After having various diagnostic procedures done , including an ultrasound, MRI and biopsy it was determined that I had breast cancer. Certainly not the most common of presentations but not unheard of either.

If you are trying to "think outside the box" then perhaps you can add lymphoma or thyroid cancer to the list of possibilities. Has no doctor suggested further diagnostics? Enlarged lymph nodes generally have a benign cause such as infection or a blockage but that is not always the case. If the problem doesn't resolve itself then I think additional testing to determine the cause would be in order. It really serves no purpose to do nothing and let the problem and the anxiety continue.

Good luck and please keep us posted.

                      Still not sure

Thanks everyone again for your responses. I have been having more symptoms along with the reoccurring neck lymph nodes. The last couple months, I have been having pelvic pain and bloating. My GYNO sent me for an ultra sound and I have abnormal thickening in my uterus. Praying it's nothing major. I have a D&C scheduled for next week.
