    Puffy {Souffle'} Waffles

    Ingredients
    1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
    1-1/3 Tablespoons baking powder
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    4 separated eggs
    1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
    1-1/3 cups milk
    1/3 cup butter, melted

    Directions
    1 In large bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, and salt.
    2 In another large bowl, beat egg whites with cream of tartar at high speed until stiff.
    3 In small bowl, beat together egg yolks, milk, and butter until blended.
    4 Make a well in dry ingredients.
    5 Pour in yolk mixture.
    6 Stir until moistened.
    7 Gently fold flour mixture into whites.
    8 For each waffle, pour about 1 cup batter onto preheated, greased waffle baker.
    9 Bake as directed, about 5 minutes.
    10 Serve hot with butter and syrup, if desired.

    MAKES 4 waffles
