Ingredients
1 package orange cake mix
1-1/4 cups sugar
5 Tablespoons cornstarch
2/3 cup water
1/2 cup orange juice
1 teaspoon grated orange peel
Red and Yellow food coloring
1 cup whipping cream
2 Tablespoons confectioners' sugar
Directions
1 Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
2 Prepare, bake and cool cake according to package directions.
3 Combine sugar and cornstarch in saucepan.
4 Stir in water, orange juice, and peel.
5 Cook on medium heat, stirring, until mixture thickens.
6 Stir in a few drops of each food coloring until orange.
7 Refrigerate 2 hours.
8 Place 1 cake layer on serving plate.
9 Spread on half of orange filling.
10 Top with second layer.
11 Spreads remaining filling on top to within 1 inch of edge.
12 Beat cream and confectioners' sugar until stiff peaks form.
13 Frost sides and top edge.
