CHANGES AT MSWORLD - MSWORLD'S CLOSURE

We began with a mission and purpose to help others living with MS.

We were excited to get going!

And hit a few bumps along the way…

However, in all seriousness, we remain grateful for our amazing volunteers, members & all who have made MSWorld a valuable resource for all!

July 10, 2024, we celebrated the goodness of these past 28 years. With a heavy heart, we will be ending our services.

We need a financial miracle to keep going forward.

We thank all for your support.

MSWorld's website will close on October 16, 2024.

“I personally want to wish all of you the guidance to find this type of support, as so many do here. Also, my prayers and love extends beyond my understanding. It has been a pleasure to steward this journey.”

God Bless you, Kathleen

I really like your word choice 'disheartening' as it sums it up perfectly.

Oh, yes, it's definitely about $$$!

This stopping for long periods of time is not helping me.

        Hi KoKo!

7 sets @ 7 reps per, sounds like progress.... And then the wet blanket!?

Yeah, oceanpride makes the point as to the $$$.

My limited experience with PT personal has been compassionate, which is appreciated but exceptionally bureaucratic. The sessions @ 1 hour each, required 20 minutes of the PT's time with 'point-and-click' on-line forms!

A PT's altruism would be hard to sustain when facing ever increasing insurance company requirements. Yet, they too need a paycheck....

Maybe my career in commercial art and another's in physical therapy aren't necessarily associated by similarity, yet, this is why I spent the majority of my career as a freelancer.

Good luck K! Please keep at it.

Yes! It seems that they are 'charting' for a longer amount of time than the actual physical therapy work!

          I agree with your assessment.

            Hi Koko,
Glad you were able to increase your sit-to-stands to 49 total, but I'm sorry this PT session has ended. I never thought it was fair if you had a valid reason to miss a session (illness, medical appt, etc) that you couldn't make it up.

One time, when I when I was in a subacute rehab facility, the PT was told by the rehab director he had to stop asking for more sessions for me, because I'd been there too long! (Almost 3 months.) Well, a uti and sepsis sent me back to the hospital before I was released, anyway. I was assigned to different therapist when I came back who wasn't very good. He preferred just sitting in his chair and giving me seated excercises. Another bout of sepsis that also turned into endocarditis put me back into the hospital, and I really went downhill after that. The PT I got the next time was better, but pushed me too hard. Most PTs in those places don't understand how to work with people who have MS. And insurance companies could care less if we need more therapy than other conditions.

I know it's discouraging, but try not to let it get you down. Hopefully, it won't be too long before your approved for more therapy again.

My goal is to be able to stand up by myself.

Currently, the therapist uses the gait belt around my waist as I hold on to her upper arm.

I don't know how they figure out the number of sessions.

Infections will cause a decline, unfortunately. A UTI got me too.
