My 10 year old brother dx with MS today.

    Hello,

I'm not sure where to go. I'm 24 years old and my 10 year old brother was just diagnosed today with MS. I'm expecting a child of my own and this just has me torn up.

I'm looking for advice, guidance, knowledge of what to expect for my brother, etc. Anything.

I'm so heartbroken for him, we did not expect this. We are all otherwise very healthy. Please help

    Hello Amanda

Sorry to learn about your brother (10 years old) who was recently diagnosed with MS. I'm sure that is extremely difficult for your brother, as well as for you and your family.

I'm looking for advice, guidance, knowledge of what to expect for my brother, etc. Anything.
Is your brother being seen by an MS Specialist? (one who specializes in pediatric MS) Seems like that would be the way to go for a child with MS, since it's not very common.

This link from the National MS Society website has some really good information pertaining to pediatric MS:

Your local chapter of the National MS Society should be able to help you with information and resources too.

Your brother needs your love and support most of all.

Wishing you and your brother all the best. Let us know how he's doing.

    Take care,

Yes. He is being seen at the Pediatrics MS Center at Benioff Children's UCSF Hospital. He has great care.

I just don't know what to expect with all of this.

Glad to know that your brother is getting great care.

MS is usually unpredictable. I don't think anyone can really say what to expect. Try to take each day as it comes, and if possible, try not to catastrophize about the future.

You can be there for your brother with love and support.

          Take care,
