    Aroma Therapy

I am a believer in using a combination of traditional medicine (I'm on Copaxone 40 for my MS, Lipitor for my high cholesterol, Oxybutrin for my nighttime frequent urination, and Trazedone to help me sleep) and CAM's (Complementary and Alternative Medicines). I use quite a few supplements.

Have been considering adding the use of some essential oils for my MS. Recently went to a local "natural" store, and, on the advice of the owner, purchased "Serenity", for help with sleep, etc, and "Pink Grapefruit", which is supposed to help with weight loss and reduction of fat and cellulite.

There are a few others that I'm somewhat interested in, based on some reading I've done on the internet, that would tend to help MS, I think, rather than targeting some of these other things. So, I may go back during the next week and pick up a couple that might help my MS.

Do any of you use essential oils, and what has your experience been?

    yes

I have used essential oils for many years. I am like you, it is a complimentary things.

It started for me personally using it myself about 20 years ago when I started back for my associate degree in nursing. But, it was used for reducing the stress of studying and test taking.

Now, I use peppermint oil for nerve pain, mixed in a lotion applied to the area.

I do not use any other essential oil specifically applied to my body or consumed.

But, I use essential oils (usually some kind of citrus fruit oil)in my vinegar water to clean with rather then harsh chemicals. I also use vinegar water in my laundry using lavender essential oil for the most part.

I have a few MS friends that use them for headaches and other symptoms.

I choose to get my essential oils from a distributor, but, a reputable health food store is good.
God Bless and have a good day, Mary

I bought a DT starter kit a few months ago. I honestly haven't researched their use for MS yet, but my interest was MS-related; I have so many GI issues now from various MS and MS-related meds that I wanted to be able to replace those with something topical when possible. My favorites so far are PastTense for headaches, DigestZen for GI issues, peppermint for energy and Breathe for coughs.
2001: 1st 2 relapses, "probable MS." 2007: 3rd relapse. Dx of RRMS confirmed by MS specialist. Started Cpx. (Off Cpx Feb 08-Mar 09 to start a family; twins!) Dec '09: Started Beta. Oct '13: Started Tecfidera. May '15: Considering Gilenya.

          DT

DT = probably Dotelle or something like that. A brand of essential oils that is marketed somewhat like tupperware or other home business.

Bread baking in the oven! I know that's not what you were asking about, Mamabug, but I think it's the best aromatherapy on earth! Too bad they can't bottle that.
