What type of purse do you carry?

This is trivial, I know, but my current purse is so old I don't remember getting it. It us time for a new one and I have been looking for a year or more!

It is leather and been through both a new kitten and a new puppy (need I say more?). I have also put it in the washing machine and crazy glued it in several spots. I try to leave it in the car whenever possible because I look like a total bag lady when I carry it (no offense to bag ladies!).

Here is the deal. I wear flannel pants, sweats, shorts, BUT, on occasions I do dress like a real person. When I worked outside the home, a nice leather mid-priced purse that did not make me look "hip-py" was the ticket. Now I am at a complete and total loss. I have to have a full zipper across the top or everything dumps on the floor of my car. That's the only thing I know...that, and that I need a new purse desperately!

Good luck with this question, ladies.

I think the type of purse you carry is really what you are comfortable with.

I know lots of women that don't even carry a purse. I however, am not one of them!

I like a midsize shoulder bag, zipper on top and hopefully 2 compartments inside. I also really need to have just 1 strap/handle or whatever you want to call it. I just really get annoyed with the 2 strap kind, one is always falling off my shoulder.

There are so many different kinds out there right now. Different fabrics, colors, patterns. Let your personality shine!

Good luck - try looking online through Amazon. If you use the link here on the site, MSW will receive a donation back from Amazon.

      Hi Tawanda,

I tend to be very, very picky about purses. I usually buy higher end purses but, I will have a purse for many years and I only have one purse. Leather is my preference.

My current purse has 2 straps, a small one that I could carry by hand or arm and a longer one that is a cross body which can be taken off.

The cross body allows hands/arms free and I don't need to worry about the strap falling off my shoulder or dropping it out of my hand. The downside, to me, is the smaller strap does not come off and I am much more inclined to use the longer strap for cross body.

The purse is Coach as is my wallet. They both have a little knob that keeps it closed and works quite easily.

Even when I dressed well for work, I preferred more casual and rugged purses (but with style) so I bought a few recycled tire ones and LOVE them.

        Google "english retreads"

        I have:

        - Model T Tote Luxe small -- my every day purse! I get SO many compliments on it from men and women.

        - Coupe Luxe -- It is cute, but I never use it though and prefer the roomier Model T

        - Beetle Small -- I love this one but can't really carry anything in my hands anymore

I, like SNOOPY, have a Coach. It is easy to find things in there with a couple of compartments, a large zipper, an outside zipper, and with a wallet (I have this) as it is easy to find things in it. Coach is a great company. I keep mine a long time, and one of mine tore so I took it back in and they gave me a new purse free of charge. Its nice to have that as a back up. There are many choices of purses though. You can always go to overstock.com and check there too.

          Good luck!

I carry a messenger bag like the kids do. I can stuff almost anything in it including a laptop if I need to. But that's probably not the answer you were l for.

Heck no! All these answers have been great, including yours! One of my problems started with the birth of my daughter. Even though she is almost a teenager now, I have never been able to do with any bag smaller than her diaper bag ever since. Soooooo bad for your back!

I agree with Snoopy that a good leather bag is worth the money. My last one was very good, but it had a hard life and now all that's missing is the duct tape if I don't act soon!

Also, I have always been a one handbag kind of gal unlike my SIL who changes purses with outfits. Too hard to transfer the amount of junk I tote around (see comedian George Carlin: "Stuff"!).

Buying a purse is like buying a pair of glasses. You can't take such a purchase lightly when you have to wear it every day!

I have always used leather bags but recently bought a light-weight, fabric bag - Baggalini, one that is called a cross-body bag and it has become my favorite.

I use a cane some of the time and found that I needed a bag that would free both hands; in addition the leather bags are now too heavy for me (even the shoulder ones) once I put all my stuff in. The fabric bag works great for me -- not dressy but good for most of the time.

What cool bags...just googled it. Very clever idea...sturdy, stylish and hip! No leather for the anti-animal product people which is also very cool. Bring environmentally conscious is highly in style, and that is a great trend that I hope will continue. Great name, too!

Ha, I just saw the "product" part of your sentence.

But yes, LOVE their products. They are so rugged and last forever.

Googled Baggalini tonight. Wow! Another great selection to peruse! I haven't heard of any of these bags (except for Coach, of course) as I am totally out of touch. You should see my cell phone...old as Moses and I barely know how to answer it!

                          Hey Mislux!

Yes, a HUGE animal lover! I feel like Dr. Doolittle sometimes. My pets are my best medicine to date. Even watching my fish helps keep me in check (and I still cry like a little kid whenever I find a "floater"!).

I am usually covered from head to toe in various animal hair...except for...my purse! It's so ugly it repels everything including animal hair!

Ha! I don't even bother to lint roll my clothes anymore either due to the cats.

From a lady with 3 cats and 1 dog.... LOL!!!

Re the purse question, like others I prefer 1 that I can wear across my chest, freeing both hands.
