    Another hysterectomy question

For those of you who have had one, does the monthly pain below the waist ease up? Mine seems to increase the first few days, tightness, spasms, twitching, shooting pain, etc. I'm wondering if that would help things, or if they continue due to the hormonal changes if you keep your ovaries intact (which I probably would do).
    It's not fatigue. It's a Superwoman hangover.

Nevermind. I think I already asked this. My mind has seen better days.

Well I didn't see it the first time you asked so am going to reply anyway!

I had a partial hysterectomy at 28 (uterus out) and I will say that without a doubt that it was the best thing I've ever done for my health. I used to get irregular, exceptionally long periods of 15 to 20 days or more and during most of that often had those crippling, writhe on the floor, scream for mercy or a bullet, kind of cramps.

The surgeon later scolded me for wanting such a healthy "overactive" uterus removed when so many women couldn't even conceive. Tough, pain wise it made a massive difference in my life!

Besides, I'd already had my tubes tied 10 years before when it became apparent the birth control available at the time did not agree my system. (To put it mildly.) My chances of conceiving if I ever changed my mind about having children of my own, were already at zero!

And I've got my now grown foster daughters without the pain of pregnancy and birth. There's one advantage to getting your kids half grown.

All my babble aside, it's a very personal and big decision as there is no going back. But in terms of pain relief, yup, it makes a huge difference if cramps are the issue.

        Hysterectomy stopped my pelvic pain.

I also had the intense pain in my pelvic area that would radiate down my inner thighs. towards my knees. This was back in 1985 and the reason for my hysterectomy at the time was for dysplasia (abnormal cells). The next change for those cells would have been cancer.

Anyway I already had 3 children and diden't want more so I went with the docs recommendation and had the Hysterectomy. After that I diden't have those pains again untill recently.

It only happened once recently and diden't last long. I thought when it happened again "that's strange" But since reading your thread now it makes since.

So I hope that this is helpful to you and eases your mind somewhat knowing that a hysterectomy will ease if not stop your pain. One less pain associated with MS is a victory.

          Hysterectomy & Gilenya

          Hi everyone,
I've been taking Gilenya now for a year. I am possibly going to have to have a hysterectomy soon for painful and heavy periods. I am nervous about the surgery because of the side effects of Gilenya affecting the heart/lungs. Has anyone had a surgery while on Gilenya? If so, what were your experiences?

I had adenomyosis after I had my son. I tried every prescription out there, but if I'd known how much better I would feel, I would have skipped all that. I kept my ovaries and had a vaginal hyster. No more pain in the abdomen. Even my "IBS". Is no longer an issue!

Now, if you have endometriosis, you may have continues issues unless you see an endo specialist. Endo implants make their own estrogen (crazy, right?). So even ovary removal is no guarantee. Pm me if you want a link to the best hysterectomy site out there.
