where oh where has my libido gone???

Im 31 been diagnosed officially for 5 years but up until 3 years ago I was very sexual..... in the last 3 years I've had 2 of the worst flares I could imagine. Now I have absolutly no sex drive. I can get off with a vibrater in under 2 mins though but I think it's because it takes no work. I used to get off on trying to set the scene and the foreplay and EVERYTHING. Is there anything you ladies have tried to help inhance your love lives?

No, mine is gone. Sometimes I think about it, but then after a couple of minutes, I forget what I was thinking about
Dx 12/2006; first symptoms about 1984, but maybe earlier--on Gilenya and Ampyra.

With all the meds I'm on for MS, bipolar, and epilepsy, and having fibro on top of it, even my psychiatrist is amazed that I ever want to have sex. Basically, to get in the mood, I read. It's horrible, but it's true. Romance novels, like Nora Roberts/JD Robb, Amanda Quick/Jayne Ann Krentz. Hubby always asks if I'm reading one of "those" books, although there are times I get there spontaneously. Frankly, there are also times when I just do the deed to make hubby happy.

Walserw, I'm afraid if I went for six months, my hubby will have dragged me to the doc saying I have to do something about it! Daily isn't enough for him (even though he's 40), but I think the longest we've gone is about 6 weeks when I was flaring, and then I just kinda gave in.
        Diagnosis: May, 2008
        Avonex, Copaxone, Tysabri starting 8/17/11

Did you try 50 shades of grey? I heard that one works well for a lot of women. I personally like books with more story to them so I probably won't read it.

Yeah, I got it. Got the whole trilogy, because even though the writing was bad, I wanted to finish the story (and find out all the crap in that guy's head). Yeah, it was pretty explicit, and worked. Luckily, the S&M stuff was actually fairly tame.

Actually, right now, what's doing it for me is Jayne Ann Krentz books. I was so used to Nora Robert's writing style that I could almost predict how the sex scenes would go. Hopefully, when this pain issue gets figured out, I'll be in the mood.

If lesions are mostly in the spine, then libido is affected.

Oh no... I'm a little worried now. I have very little drive but my last MRI showed no lesions on my spine. Hope I am not getting them on the spine too.

What medications are you on? There is more impacting the drive than just lesions. Medications, energy level, stuff on your mind, pain, other symptoms, etc. My psychiatrist basically says that essentially, with guys, you only have to worry about the plumbing (and of course, medical issues affecting it, like lesions, diabetes, etc.), but with women, the key to libido is the mind, which is why there has been no success in developing a female version of Viagra. The closest they've been able to come is basically a topical lube or ointment, usually based on spearmint oil, that makes the area *tingle*.

With me, usually, my mind is what needs to be overcome. I have to WANT to take the time out, to try to overcome my physical symptoms, or my exhaustion, or whatever, for it to work at all. If I can't do anything but think about how much I hurt, it won't work, even with the KY yours and mine lube (that stuff rocks, btw).

I hope I keep my drive

I have a very healthy drive right now.. Actually want it more than my husband. I hope that does not change.. Have any of you tried new things to keep you interested. sex is such an important part of keeping your relationship close.. The men in our lives are so important.. I would hate to deprive mine of that.. They don't need much.. 2 minutes if you do it right.

                          Yup

I also have experienced the loss of libido... Every once in a while it will come back, but for like 5 minutes and then it's gone again. I used to take a pill called Steel Libido but I'm not sure if it worked or not. My memory sucks and I can't remember that far back! Maybe I'll try it again and update...I think I still have some.

As a background, I am 31...dx'd @ 26...married when I was 24. For a while I wondered if it was just lack of interest cause that's what happens with marriage. LOL

I love my hubby dearly though and used to be very sexual by nature. If anyone finds something that helps please post!!! I'll update on the Steel Libido once I use it for a bit.
