    flu vaccine

    Hello All,

I just got the flu vaccine Friday afternoon and am still fatigued today (Tuesday). Is this common in people with MS? This is the 4th year I've gotten the shot but don't remember being this tired?

I am waiting til October to get mine. I don't remember being extra tired after flu shots other years. Hope you pick up soon.

I've never had an issue but was wondering if this year will be different after all vaccines, boosters etc.
      Hope you feel better soon.

        Jules,
I was wondering the same thing?? Maybe after getting 2 covid shots earlier in the year maybe has me messed up?? I don't know. I had one good day yesterday so I took a 5-minute walk on my break but am very fatigued again today. Luckily I only work part-time or I would have called off today.

I had the flu vaccine on Friday and have not had a problem. That was about two weeks after having my second Shingles vaccine. Yes, I have also had two COVID vaccines. I feel like a pin cushion this year.

Oh I was wondering if we were going to get the Shingles vaccine now. My PCP said we could because its no longer live or attenuated? I wanted to defer to my MS specialist and totally forgot. I need to follow up on that because I definitely don't want shingles either.

I got the regular flu vaccine last Saturday and although my arm was sore nothing else. I do have a friend however who just sent me a picture of a rather substantial bruise on her arm that is still there a week later. Ugh pin cushion is right!

Hmmm?? interesting. Maybe not be MS-related? I will ask my doctor when I see him. I wonder why I had such fatigue?

I did get mine last week, and like many, nothing but a sore arm. I take it that your fatigue has lifted VikingKitty? If so, glad it has.

The newer Shingles vaccine is not "live" and is 2 doses. My PCP told me this vaccine can knock you on your butt for a few days (fair warning) . The first and second dose I had injection site swelling and itching, lasted for almost 2 weeks. First dose I didn't have any significant side effects. Second dose I slept more than what is normal for me, nausea, and loss of appetite for about 3 or 4 days.

Yep! I don't want shingles either. FYI; my PCP's mother has MS and my PCP has a really good understanding on what MS is and what is does. First time in all of the years I've had MS that a PCP really gets MS

Thank you for the information. Ugh I’m sick of getting vaccines! But I will as I don’t want to chance getting COVID, shingles or flu.
