Thefts here, including my power chair

Our Yukon SUV was stolen sometime Saturday night from our back alley. My DRIVE power chair was stored inside the vehicle. Also stolen was a trailer, John Deere riding mower and pull mower all hooked up to the Yukon when it was stolen.

The vehicle was not covered by insurance because we didn't have comprehensive coverage, but the contents were. We're waiting for insurance to get back to us regarding coverage for the trailer and the mowers.

A financial loss. Although the Yukon was old (2002) so it could be worse, I guess. My husband used the mowers mostly to volunteer in the community. He mowed multiple plots at two local churches and at the Domestic Violence shelter and their office. He had put a lot of love, labor, and creative engineering into the mowers (to add efficiency, etc), so that is irreplaceable. It might be that the contents (my chair and a few other things) are the only things covered.

Just feeling down today. There will be so many replacement decisions that need to be made. It feels overwhelming. Need a hug.

      Hello Mamabug

Sorry to learn about your things being stolen.

That feeling of being violated by thieves is sickening and scary.

Hopefully all of your belongings are covered by your insurance.

Good luck, and a big hug for you, Mamabug.

Oh good grief. What is wrong with people? They can figure out a dozen ways to cheat and steal but can't figure out how to get a job! I don't have any sympathy for these people.

But you.... I totally sympathize with you. So sorry to hear this. Do you live in a big city? Hope the police can help you find your possessions. Love you Mama.

Yes; a police report was filed yesterday. It appears there has been an increase in vehicle thefts here lately. They have filed an APB out to neighboring law enforcement. They are not very hopeful about recovery.

We live in a small city, about 18,000. The kind of place where you see and greet friends and neighbors when you go to the grocery store, etc. We are only 30 minutes from a larger city (Wichita) of 200,000. It is possible our city was targeted by someone from there.

Yes; violated is the word that comes to mind for me too.

So sorry to hear Mamabug - for you, your husband, and those he helps. If you are on Facebook, check the marketplace - you never know if someone is trying to sell it. Or online classified near you. I know crime has risen during the pandemic and chances are, it is someone from a bigger area as you said. What really stinks is they have messed with both your independence and sense of security. Hope things work out better for the trailer and your scooter insurance wise.

Thanks, everyone. It helps to talk (complain) about it. You are all good listeners.

That is terrible especially considering the things they took and the good deeds you used them for.
Maybe write an OP ed in the local paper in hopes the thieves or someone who might have considered taking something that isn't theirs get a glimpse into the possible reaches of their crime?

That's terrible. I hope they slip and fall in a pile of dog excrement when being escorted to the police cruiser.

I'll send my prayers for you and family, as well as a hug Faith.

There certainly is a feeling of violation being a victim, fortunately the majority of people are like those here at MSW.

Oftentimes something better comes into being over time.

It’s just very saddening... for every one involved. No one or nothing seems safe anymore. As if we haven’t got enough troubles and worries already. There is definitely too many different types of sicknesses in this world.
It was one agains't 2.5million toughest one we ever fought.
