    Painful MRI

Has anybody not been able to get in the MRI machine due to spasms?

I have only had this experience when I scheduled the brain, c-spine, and thoracic together. The thoracic was just too much and the spasms started. I was in the machine, but could not stay still.

Would an open MRI be an option? Do the spasms subside long enough to get images? Maybe you neuro will have suggestions for you.

Could you possibly ask for a sedative beforehand? I hear of people getting one for those suffering anxiety and/or claustrophobia, so I'd think it would calm down spasms. But, of course, talk to your neuro first.

      good luck!
