    Lingo

Hi, is anyone able to help with lingo?

    I have:
    - 13mm lesion covering my C3 and C4.
    - 12mm lesion superior to the body of the left lateral ventricle.
    - 11mm lesion lateral to occipital hornof the right ventricle.

Can anyone tell what this actually means? Bad, good, average?

    Thanks,
    Sarah

    Hi, Sarah
I see this is your first post on MSWorld. Are you newly diagnosed?
Have you you reviewed your MRI with your neurologist or are these the findings from your MRI report?
I can’t tell you what the size of the lesions mean in terms of prognosis or severity, nor can I say they’re caused by MS, but the average lesion size for MS is around 7mm. 80% of lesions are less than 8mm, but obviously they can be much larger and more confluent.

Hi and welcome, Sarah! MRI’s are incredibly valuable when it comes to diagnosing MS, but there are other things to consider as well. Are you waiting on a diagnosis?

I will say those lesions seem larger than I’ve heard of, but then again, I can’t remember the size of my own lesions! I’m sorry I can’t be more helpful. I’m sure more will post and offer guidance. In the meantime, here’s a link to an article (if you’re awaiting a follow-up visit with your doctor, perhaps print it and write your questions down to take to the appointment with you):

I can't answer your question. Just wanted to say hi. :-)
