Last month after a C-spine MRI for checkup with MS specialist a T2 hyperintense signal was found at the right side of the base of the tongue.
So here is my question, Would normal tissue show up on a MRI as a T2 hyperintense signal? The ENT doc said it could be that the right side of the base of the tongue is just more prominent. I had always thought that the lesion or tumor would have to have something in it in order for the MRI to pick it up hyperintense (T2 signal) otherwise our whole body would light up during a MRI.
Fast-forward to today, I am awaiting results of Flow Cytometry. Doc wants to rule out lymphoma. Initial results from biopsy were negative for Oral Cancer. Yah!
