Symptoms for 12 yrs. - Finally Going for 1st MRI since 2005!

Hello. I've posted on this board throughout the years. I have off and on symptoms that come on every few months. My main complaint is burning sensations on my skin. Mainly my face burns, but sometimes I can get it all over. I get bizarre achiness that comes and goes as well. B

Right now my left thigh has been hurting for about a week. Everyday seems to get a little worse. I woke up this morning and my left foot felt broken. Board to explain. All day today I've had sporadic odd pains that pop up in different areas...anywhere from my feet to my fingers...to my back.

I am having a brain and c-spine MRI on Friday and I could not be happier about it. I need peace of mind.

So far all neurologists I've seen through the years say I show no signs of neurological disease. Past MRIs were clean as well. Something is wrong with me!!!

All bloodwork through the years is normal as well...and I've had it all done. From ANA to B12 to D. Lots.

I guess I'm just here to vent and look for moral support. Though I've been told it's not MS, this is where I feel my symptoms point to.

First symptoms started in 1994 with Pars Planitis. Ears started ringing in 1995. Burning skin started in 2002. Since then, it's been all sorts of aches and pains they come and go.

    Typo

That was supposed to say "hard to explain." Typing on phone can cause issues.

SherryBerry72, it's a good idea to get a copy of your MRI report for your records. I had 2yr old MRI films, and was told during that time that 'things' were within normal range.

After 2yrs I requested the written report and was shocked to read that I had 20+, too many to count, brain lesions, consistant with a demylinating disease.

Are you currently under the care of a specialist MS Neurologist?

Other's should be along with more advice for you.

        MRIs

I do have two different MRI films. I think one is brain and one is c-spine. They may both be brain. I've seen probably 5 neurologists through the years for 2nd and 3rd (and more) opinions. I've taken the films with me before. They are clear.

Saw a neuro in 2011 and 2012. She wouldn't even order a brain MRI. She did, however, order a c-spine MRI due to my EMG showing an abnormality in my neck. I didn't go do it because it was late November and I didn't want to at my deductible at the end of the year. That is actually what sent me I my GP this go around. I wanted her to order the MRI for me of my neck. She's an AMAZING doctor and has a great reputation for finding what's wrong with get patients. Matter of fact, she sent me for an MRI back in like 2004. I just haven't seen her since.

I'm a little scared of the results of this one. I went from 2007 to 2011 feeling GREAT and after an emotional argument with my x husband, my symptoms started creeping back up. So it's been off and on again since May 2011.

We will see what these new MRIs show.

An abnormal EMG would point away from MS.

The EMG is used in the diagnostic criteria for many conditions, MS is not one of them.

I wish you well with the MRIs and hope they give you the peace of mind you are seeking

            Thanks

I apologize for all the silly typos. Autocorrect changed a couple of my words.

I am aware of the abnormal EMG reading not being an MS thing and I'm curious as to what the c-spine MRI will (or won't show). I've had neck pain (mainly when laying down) for well over a year or more. I wake up almost every single night with my left (if not right as well) arm numb. I know that is related to my neck and my sleeping position, I'm sure.

However, I still have burning in my face that has no explanation. And from what I have been told, the neck won't cause facial symptoms....I don't believe.

So I'm still in the dark here. And then there is off and on horrible fatigue that comes on in the afternoons daily...that lasts for weeks and vanishes. Sometimes I hurt all over...sore skin to touch, achiness all over. Just a pain.

I think, other than the burning, my mental stability is the worse. THIS is where I can't figure out which came first....the horse or the carriage. In my case...the anxiety first and then the symptoms? Or the symptoms and then the anxiety? It's a fine line. When I feel this way (achy and burning) I'm very "off." Hard to put into words, but I can't think clearly....I feel jittery...just feel OFF kilter.

I'm a smart girl and full of common sense. I've tried through the years to sort all this out. But I just can't.

And the doctors never have answers....just anxiety.
