What does it take to exhaust you?

I can't believe how the little tiny things I do completely fatigue me. I mean.. washing my hands, folding laundry.. going to the bathroom! It doesn't take anything anymore to keep me on the couch all day, every day.

I have IBS and struggle with constipation. Talk about tiring! And add Fibromyalgia and Graves Disease, plus Spondylosis to the mix and ... whew!

Do most of you just wear out immediately? I keep thinking there's some hidden ailment wearing me down but I've had so many tests and seen so many specialists that I can't imagine them missing anything.

Washing dishes and clothes. The two wear me out. It is the hanging of the clothes, ironing, changing sheets, folding clothes, all of that stuff. Washing dishes is just that...washing dishes. Its messy, its time consuming, I hate it. Yes, we have a dishwasher, but you have to nearly wash the dishes before putting them in there, so whats the point? You have to wash the pans separately. Its a pain in the old eyeball! In addition to other places. Anyway, it wears me out.

    Take care guys...

      It doesn't take much!

Stress really knocks me out. Showering, changing, eating... everything. Walking of course. But I plan and take rests in between activities. As long as I don't go over that fine line, resting for 5-10 minutes in between activities helps. If I overdo things, it takes the rest of the day or the next day before I feel better.

I never get the sleepy fatigue. It is always the kind that is debilitating (starts with my back feeling scrunched, limbs tightening, zero energy, difficulty moving limbs, etc.)

This question implies there is a time that I am not exhausted.
I always feel pretty wiped out. It is a daily mental struggle to do my chore's, exercise, feed myself the proper food, ect.
There are times that I just can't do it all and just have to rest before I fall down.

I keep going most days but I am not very dependable. Can never predict when I just can't make it.

I stopped expecting to feel good many years ago but this fatigue is getting more difficult to deal with everyday.
I deal with the pain and can push thru almost any discomfort but this fatigue is a real B. It just does not seem to matter what my plans are, sometimes the fatigue will not yield and there is no way for me to push thru it. My body just stops functioning.

          air

I think it must be air that tires me out, cuz it seems to hit... like BAM out of no where, at anytime, no consistency day to day, minute to minute.

My fatigue never used to be the sleepy kind either. But now I take naps. Getting older doesn't help this disease does it? Thanks for your reply. This really helps me.

Thank you so much! I totally get you. I never thought it would come to this point. Do you take any DMD's? I have been on Copaxone since 2002, but have taken many many breaks from it. In fact, right now I've been away from the shots for about a month. Makes me wonder.

Yes Lisa, I fight the same battles. It kills me that I can't keep up with the little things. I keep asking myself who will do it if I don't.

I agree when are we not exhausted.

Sometimes when I am washing my hair it feels like my arms are going to fall off. Just can't hold them up to lather.

Changing sheets. Takes a long time.

Walking to the bathroom. I never thought that this would be me. I used to be so active and I see people just walking around a store and I think I can do it. But no way. I just can't and makes me very sad!!

                  Good Luck!!

Another part of my question: Does your fatigue ever make you feel like your heart rate goes up a little? Even when it really doesn't? Some days I can take a few steps and am totally exhausted and feel like my heart is beating a little harder. Some days it is. But other times I check it with my oximeter and it's really ok. Is this just more fatigue??

Did Avonex for more than a decade...Made me feel extra crappy.

The past three plus years it has been all diet and exercise for me.
I seem to feel better but I am battle with fatigue daily.
No DMD's. I feel better but I still feel like I have MS.

                        Getting out of bed!

There are times, I'll wake at my normal time, sleep well, then 2 hours later, I have to take a 2 hour nap!

I was one of those arrogant-thinking people who, when first dx and hearing about the fatigue, thought, "fatigue schmatigue... I can do THAT!". Wrong!!

What fatigues me the most is not being able to do something on my own time (ie planned, with breaks).
