It's official. The MS specialist diagnosed me with RRMS. I expected it based on our previous visit. I still had to let it sink in. I am starting on Avonex. I have to wait until a nurse can come to my house and properly instruct me on the usage of the injector pen. I have to go back to the MS Wellness Center in 6 months. I also was given information on contacting the MS National Society.

Well, meb, welcome to the club. Sorry you were diagnosed, but I am glad you have an answer to your symptoms. Avonex is a good one to start with and the injector pen will help with the needle sticks. If the side effects (flu-like symptoms) get too much, you have plenty of other choices.
Since you are early in your journey come back often for questions and advice, or advice you have for other newbies.
Hopefully everything will go smoothly for you and the Avonex will control your relapses so that you will feel pretty well. When I first started Copaxone did that for me for many years.
Let us know how it goes for you, OK?
Take care

Well Darling, I am sorry about your diagnosis, but glad to see you going on a DMD.
I took Avonex, it is a good drug. Takes awhile to get use to, but give it time. Lots of good tips on Avonex in the meds forum and of course you will be assigned an Avonex Nurse...mine was great.
And you know what? Carolina Gals are indeed the best...IMHO.Katie

avonex allergic reaction
if you have had any liver conditions like hepatisis in the past then speak to your neuro again before proceeding. when i was first dx i was given avonex and after 13 or so injections my hands turned yellow. it took two years to get my liver eyzmes back in check. i was 33 years old at the time and i had hepatisis when i was 14 yrs.
i hope all goes well for you i'm just warning you because the neuro's seem all for putting patients on meds then when something happens they are the ones to direct you to specialists to fix what damage the meds did!
