Time to plan my life

2 doctors to gether it time to plan the rest of my life
Do I want to stay the way I am and live about 10 years or
Have quality of life and live about 7 years. Not quite sure how they going do do this
I'm 74 years old and have primary progressive MS since 1993. The MRI of brain & spinal cord no to good
I use a cain&walker .My loving wife takes me to see doctors & specialist.
I passed my drivers test last week

That is an exceptionally personal decision...only you can make it.

I made a personal decision yesterday to not go on any more DMDs. It will shorten my life significantly, and am in the process of doing some advanced directives and a DNR. I just turned 50. So, I guess I chose quality.

Best of luck to you, I am sure you and your loving spouse will choose what is right. Once you do, don't look back...just live in the moment.

FWIW thank you for sharing your story. It gives me a bit of hope. I pray that at 74 I'm still able to get around with a walker and cane!

I'd love to know, like you, how your doctors are going to do this.
What exactly are they proposing?

My assorted medical 'team' look at me like I'm insane when I say I'm not too keen to try the latest wonder treatment. "But you don't have to take it, so you really can't know what it's like."

I'd go quality over quantity, but seven years is a long time. Where are they claiming to find the extra three?

Something we are doing..

Just in case either one of us ends up needing a nursing home. We are getting our home OUT of our names. Putting everything we own in our kids names to they won't have the hassle if and when something happens to us. The government is looking back 5 to 7 years to find anything you might have owned or hidden from them. So get the ball rolling NOW.

This is hard to think about, but it's necessary. It will make everything easier for the kids and they won't lose any inheritance we might have for them.
