Pain in every part of my body

At the end of December my husband and I had a total of 3 hospital visits, including 2 in the E/R and one car accident (mine). So the stress level was sky high and I had a bit of a relapse.

So, going on. Last night I had one of those completely sleepless nights (insomnia is my constant companion), but part of this was this total, body-wide pain. Even my skin hurt to the touch. Legs, head, arms, stomach, chest, neck, face, back and skin. Pain everywhere! Of course, anxiety was in the mix big time.

When things get like this I just don't know where to turn. I have Graves disease and have intestinal junk and back problems. So I lay awake trying to figure out which specialist was going to get a call. Of course, this morning I called no one. Just dragged myself to work for a few hours until I couldn't stand it any longer.

I never know which meds to take. I mean, is this regular pain, nerve pain, muscle aches, what??

Has anyone ever experienced this widespread pain?

Yes, I have episodes of widespread pain similar to what you've described. It can get pretty severe, but it does eventually pass.

I don't take painkillers for mine, although I know from experience that opioids do work for it.

I manage my pain with mindfulness meditation.

I hope you can find relief somewhere, and soon!

Ive had this kind of pain once before. I couldnt even scratch an itch because my skin hurt too bad. All I could do was lay in bed in pain and cry. Now, this pain did follow a 5 day iv solumedrol infusion. I called my neuro, and the office wasnt sure what was going on, so Im not sure if it was iv steroids causing it or something else. It went away completely after about 3 days.

Have you ever thought about using cannabis? I don't know how the laws are in your state but it has worked wonders for friends(one that has severe chron's disease) that need pain relief and are worried about opiates. There are oral forms of it meaning you don't have to smoke it.
I feel so bad for those that are suffering with pain and MS. Montel Williams is a big supporter of legal cannabis use to help pain that is due to MS(which he has).

Pain everywhere sounds like the presenting symptom of fibromyalgia. Have you had that ruled out?

I saw a Rheumatologist years before my MS dx. He thought it was Fibro at that time. I never followed up but have been thinking the same thing lately.

Yes, my skin kind of burns and hurts. And my ribs!! OMG.. if i even touch them or scratch them they about make me jump out of my skin!

I haven't thought about pot... mostly because I don't even know HOW to smoke. Never did that. There must be some meds that might help. Thanks anyway.

I am also constantly in pain and have been since my symptoms first started 7 years ago.
I think I should own the Ibuprofin company by now...lol
I haven't mentioned this to my Dr yet as I was hoping one of the meds he has given me would help and I just don't know how to describe my pain...I have it everywhere, pain at the surface of my skin, which the lyrica is helping, deep pain that feels like muscle pain, and then even deeper pain that actually feels like my bones. After a 12 hour night at work I sometimes feel like I won't even make it to my vehicle in the parking lot because I hurt so bad.

You don't have to smoke it. There are oral forms available. lol. My friend doesn't smoke it. She takes an oral flavored liquid of some kind. She doesn't tolerate many foods well so the cookies, etc are out of the question for her. She has said it works better than the drugs for her pain with Chron's. Montel Williams has MS and I believe there is information online about his case(It was on Oprah too). He supports using cannabis for his pain. Just an idea. I just know that many opiates are toxic. That is scary stuff there.
