    Abdominal/PELVIC PAIN?!

I've had pain in my abdomen and pelvic for about 3 weeks now, on and off. The pelvic pain feels like cramps. The dull kind. The abdominal pain feels like that too, like all my muscles are tightening.
The only thing that helps is heat and Vicodin. Most days I can go about my business without too much discomfort, but today I had to call into work , it just so freakin painful!

Am I alone? Does this happen to anyone else?

I saw my doctor and he said right now he doesn't see why it would be anything else. I have no weird bowel issues or issues 'down there'. Everything else is normal except for the pain. No fever, no signs of infection...

Sometimes my MS hug feels like cramps. Mostly it feels like an iron belt around my midsection, but it can migrate up and down. I imagine it could radiate from your pelvic area, and it does feel like spasms or the muscles tightening. I take Lyrica for the pain, and it has helped some. Killed down the pain from an 8-9 to more of a 3-4.

Was the doctor you saw an obgyn? If not it would probably be a good idea to make an appointment to have your pain checked out. It is always a good idea to rule out any other cause before assuming or blaming symptoms/problems on MS.

MS CAN cause pelvic pain and pressure.

Spasticity can be a consideration for the pain (muscle spasms), yes, you can have muscle spasms there . Have you tried a muscle relaxant?

Sorry for what you are going through.. hope it gets better soon.

I can get rolling, unpainful spasms in my abdomen, that you can actually SEE..but.. I get very bad pain around my bladdder. It always feels like a bladder infection UTI, but its not. I get urgency/frequency but NO burning and NO infection. I do get it checked out just in case.

I call it weird MSee pain..but try not to assume its MS when it could be something else.

Yes I hope you get checked out by GYN also.

        Gentle Hugs to you~ Jan

During exacerbations I have had severe abdominal and pelvic pain...not all exacerbations, but some. I use a heating pad on my abdomen, and sit on ice packs or heating pack. It helps. Hope you find some relief. My urogyn says it's the MS...he thinks the sharp pain is due to nerve damage and aches and cramps due to spasticity. Have you tried an anti-spasticity med?

It's such a tightrope walk. You don't want to spend two years chasing rabbits before you finally say it must be MS. And the time adds up, as you wait for this test result and that test result, and consult this specialist and that specialist. Personally for me I wonder if I'd recognized the pain as MS right away, maybe I could've smacked it down with steroids and it wouldn't have become permanent nerve damage. Just something I wonder.

But I do agree to check with your ob/gyn before assuming MS. But if everything is normal down there, it *is* possible for MS to cause that sort of pain like cramps.
