I am 58 diagnosed ms after many tests. Doc says I am in remission do nothing unless I have a relapse, friends(esp 2 that has MS) think that is nuts. Tell me I should be doing something, taking something so I don't have a flare up.
Anyone have any input?I would appreciate it...

Your doctor sounds like one of the doctors that likes to wait until you experience a "flare" they can see and show via a MRI to put you on meds...some people have to wait for a second "flare" for the dx.

Did they talk to you about MS meds?

At the end of the day, I think it should come down to a personal decision whether you choose to take any meds or not. Some folks choose not to take any or decide after many years they are done with them. I think it's a little odd to dx someone with something and then not want to offer available treatment options, but that is my non-doctor opinion

The pp's have touched on what I would say; I would do your own research (the links from pp sound like a great place to start), weigh the risks and benefits, and decide if you'd like to be on a DMD.
