    cosmetic surgery anyone?

sooooo.... im thinking about doing the smartlipo thing (laser lipo suction) on my stomach where the fat is melted by the laser then suctioned out through small holes (no slicing and dicing!)and im wondering if maybe this might cause a flare. its done under local anestesia so your awake the entire time just numbed up in that area real good. i know i have to ask my doctors opinion but has anyone done something like this? any two cents welcome!

No but you on interferons or glaterimer? Might you be in the future? Might that fat come in handy when/if you need to start taking injections?

Thank you so much for that Shiela...I was really down about this new buddha belly I have acquired. Now I can just look at it as my body preparing for daily injections. I can maybe learn to love having that little extra layer of fat now...LMAO

          Grace4et,

I've had surgery several times under both local and general anesthesia. I had a relapse only once afterwards, while under general anesthesia, but it was a major surgery (heart). Most MSer's don't experience a flare after surgery.

Sheila does have a good point if you were ever to take shots for your MS again and you use your stomach. (I couldn't, though, even on daily Copaxone. For me, that area is my most sensitive.) Some of the new MS medications that are still in clinical trials are also shots.

Best wishes on your decision. Even with MS, we still want to and should look great . Let us know what you decide and how it goes.

I wonder about this all the time. My forehead looks like a Klingon from the newer Star Treks. Right now I am not sure what's worse, M.S. or being officially middle aged. I can't afford any work, though. If I didn't have M.S. to keep me poor, I wonder if I would be settling for aging gracefully? Hmmmmm...

I would LOVE to have that done! Maybe if we win the lottery. :P I haven't had surgery since I was 14 so I don't know about MS and surgeries. Hope it goes well for you though!
