CHANGES AT MSWORLD - MSWORLD'S CLOSURE

We began with a mission and purpose to help others living with MS.

We were excited to get going!

And hit a few bumps along the way…

However, in all seriousness, we remain grateful for our amazing volunteers, members & all who have made MSWorld a valuable resource for all!

July 10, 2024, we celebrated the goodness of these past 28 years. With a heavy heart, we will be ending our services.

We need a financial miracle to keep going forward.

We thank all for your support.

MSWorld's website will close on October 16, 2024.

“I personally want to wish all of you the guidance to find this type of support, as so many do here. Also, my prayers and love extends beyond my understanding. It has been a pleasure to steward this journey.”

God Bless you, Kathleen

Looking for a lightweight power wheelchair!

I found a thread I wrote in 2021, but now it's evident the time for me to get a power wheelchair is now. And probably past due!

Yesterday I was really struggling to get into a building with my walker when I noticed a woman sitting in a small power chair. I spoke to her and she reminded me that with my Doctor's approval and recommendation that Medicare will pay for all or most of the cost. I forgot to find out the model she had, but I'm putting it out to others here, on what you recommend.

I want something that comes apart that my dh can assemble when we're out and about. I'd really love to have something that is lightweight enough that I can assemble myself, but don't know if there's anything out there to meet that need.

    Can anyone help?

Hi! There are many travel scooters out there that might fit your needs.

The Pride Travel Pro 3-Wheel (Model No. SC336) might be the lightest of them all, with the heaviest piece weighing only 27.5 pounds. However, since it’s a 3-wheeled scooter, it’s not as stable as the 4-wheeled variants, where the heaviest piece is closer to 40 pounds.

    Can you handle 27.5 lbs?

The SpinLife sales team is top notch, I would encourage you to give them a call.

Here's a link to the scooter I was referring to:

Thanks, Marco. It is lightweight and not too costly, yet I worry about stability issues.

I am also leery about Pride Mobility as the manufacture. I had some horrible experience with the company years ago. They sent me a faulty 4 wheeled motorized scooter and long story, but they never reimbursed me. Not even after many attempts!

I may just need to go to our local mobility equipment supplier. They have a excellent reputation and I've purchased other mobility aids there before.

Basically, I am asking others here for recommendations. Thanks again.

        Hi Seasha,
Instead of a scooter, a power wheelchair might be your best option. A wheelchair seating specialist at your local DME would be able to advise you further. Best of luck!

Yes, that's what I'm looking for and plan to check them out at our local dealer.
