so a transfer to toilet instead of lift
my bathroom was to small for the lift system but in one of my rehab stays (OT) they taught me how to do a direct transfer from the w/c to the toilet.
I had arms that were not tied to the toilet and was able to get my w/c right in front of the toilet (45 degrees)and slide over to the toilet rocking to get my clothes out of the way go and then rock to get my clothes back in place. I had very little strength in my legs but I was able to use my arms and get the transfer done
So I would suggest OT and see if they can show you how to do this
You need to get some kind of system because your husband needs to protect his back or he may be laid up for months with back problems.
