Just wondering if it could be MS

    Hi All...

I was super happy to find this message board. I feel this is the only safe place I can ask my questions.

I started having dizziness/vertigo several months ago, okay that's not completely true. I noticed it last year for a very brief period of time and then it went away. It started again though several months ago, only much worse than it was last year and it hasn't stopped. It's the weirdest feeling of ... 1) I can be walking and feel like I'm listing off to one direction 2) inebriated 3) swimmy head 4) like my eyes can't catch up with my head. It can happen no matter the situation I am in. Standing, walking, sitting, driving, etc.

Also, I have a pain in my upper back, not really sure where it's originating from, but the only way to describe it is like something is burning a hole straight through my back. They (the medical people) thought it was my gallbladder so I had that removed and the pain came back. The only medication(s) that have helped the burning sensation is Elavil and Neurontin (which I just started this week cause the Elavil was having a decreased effectiveness).

I have experienced tingling or pricking sensation in my hands and feet, but mostly my hands.

I do experience fatigue, but chalked it up to who doesn't. After working a 12 hr shift, who wouldn't be fatigued? However, I will come home and go to bed, sleep from about 9pm to 8am, get up for a short period of time, take a 3 hr nap during the day, then be back asleep for the night by 7pm.....my husband says that's extreme.

Lastly, please bear with me, I know this is long, but I have had 2 times where I've had intense itching (moves around my body) followed by or in conjunction with a strong sense of pressure wrapped around my chest and upper abdominal area. Like someone is squeezing the air out of me and it's hard to breathe.

I am scheduled to see a neuro on 25 Oct. The Family Practice doc I've been seeing drew a bunch of labwork and ruled out other protential causes. Started me on Meclizine which does provide some limited relief to the vetigo/dizzy sensation and like I said, just started on Neurontin for the burning pain in my back.

Thank you for reading and for any suggestions or advice you have to offer.

Seeing a neuro, preferably a MS specialist, is a great frist step. The neuro can order all the needed testing, blood work, MRIs etc

A history fo your symptoms and list of issues, aprox dates and how long they last can also help.

If you have not already, check out the weekly Limbo Island thread, a great resource and support there.

    Good luck......
