Monica is an insightful author, poet, essayist and photographer. She is also a member of MSWorld® and has much of her work in our LivingMS Cultural Center. Be sure and check out her work in Artwork, Essays and Poetry.

This particular book strikes me as most of her work is - very intimate, friendly and thought provoking.   If you are a thinker who loves to laugh and cry, this book is for you.  If you like to pick up a book to read a good essay or poem, this is the book for you.  If you like to read work by someone who knows what living with a chronic illness is like, yet keeps life in perspective, this is the book for you.

Here is an excerpt from her short essay "The New Blank Page" - as a writer myself, I was pulled to read this early on:

"My pen is itching. My ear is open. There is nothing you can tell me that will surprise me. For you see, I've walked this road before you...Just hold my hand and lean into my ear. We're just a blank page away."

In Etch-a-Sketch, I like her reference to wanting to clear hers and start fresh. She is not a quitter and obviously loves life and captures all aspects of the beauty of nature. Monica is an artist in every sense of the word. What is printed on the back cover, in part, shows her sensitivity with humor:

"Not misunderstood, however, is the author's adage for living life to the fullest, despite adversity. This is an unintentional autobiography of a journey through relationships, circumstance, and soul searching. Monica's essays and poetic hiccups embrace her road blocks, always delving deeply, discovering the often overlooked lessons life presents so artfully."

Monica has also written the following books, all available at Amazon:
