MSWorld® “Patients Helping Patients” is not just a slogan! It is a reality being lived-out every day at MSWorld.org! The Staff at MSWorld, now 28 strong, are from seventeen states and one from the Philippines. They are all volunteers who not only contribute to, monitor and manage the website, but host chats and the message boards, working to see that the website runs smoothly. Each of our staff has Multiple Sclerosis.
Recently one of MSWorld’s members (we’ll call her “D”) revealed a dire need for assistance to CharOP, one of MSWorld’s staff members. “D” is quadriplegic, was totally dependent upon her elderly parents and was receiving only meager and intermittent assistance.
CharOP enlisted GGOP’s advice then, GGOP appealed to our Staff for advice and information. Within a few days, “D” reported that she had “gotten such a wonderful response to her dilemma.” She said her phone “had never rung so many times in one day.” Within a week, “D” had a new agency and a new aide. “YEEEEEE HAWWWWWW....THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP...GOD BLESS XOX!” said GG.
Staff members had suggested the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America (http://www.msaa.com/), and provided “D” with specific contacts and chapters in “D’s” state. One staff member contacted a family member in that state. Another staff member suggested and offered help in contacting churches in “D’s” location.
Congratulations to MSWorld’s Staff – you definitely each deserve the “Do-Gooder” Medal! You rise to the occasion when challenges are presented and have the skills and resources to help in so many ways! Keep up the Good Work!
