Roger Born 1963 First Flare Feb 06 Current Dx TRANSVERSE MYELITIS
Hello,
Welcome to MSWorld and my Biography.
I found MSWorld on my search for answers to my Flare-Up in Feb. 06 after ten days in the hospital. I have always known about certain things and conditions and symptoms for MS, as my younger brother has MS and has had it since he was 30.
My family has many conditions related to Autoimmune problems, ranging from MS to Lupus and Fibromyalgia. We also have had members of our family who have passed from cancer and had lifelong bouts with Diabetes. Yes, quite the pot of soup for sure.
I wanted information on my symptoms and the potential symptoms I might experience based on a positive lp while in the hospital at the time of my flare-up, knowing the family history and my own personal symptoms leading up to the event.
My first stop was the NMSS and I wanted to find forums and a chatroom where I could get real-time information and advice from people who shared my plight.
After finding this website and now being sick and unable to continue any of my former careers, I found myself spending more time on my computer than usual. And believe me I spend enough time on here already. I wanted to give back to this community with my skills, and help those who might be having problems as well due to their bout with MS and the many difficulties it can bring to one using computers and to associate with others who also have MS.
I researched MSWorld, its mission, its guidelines and lurked on its message boards to gauge the community and its staff, and did a lot of time in the Chatroom.
So here I am. Giving back and helping other patients as our Founder Kathleen Wilson intended.
Thank You, Kat.
My experiences in life include joining the Air Force in 1982 and getting out in 1986, where I was a Telecommunications Specialist/Data Center Operator. After I entered the civilian world, I became a chef and enjoy my passion of cooking and creating in the kitchen to this day. I never lost interest in computers, as I had first started computers in high school in 1977 and was always a video nut on any game system and arcade.
My brothers and I have always enjoyed computing and challenging ourselves to read and attain higher levels of learning. My wife and I owned and ran a CYBER-CAFE for a few years ahead of its time and I have always enjoyed teaching the younger generation about computing. I am still an Avid Gamer and also design and host websites. I consider myself to be a power-user of computers. I have been on the internet since it inception and have been doing Bulletin Boards from high school in the late 70s (on dial-up modems).
I love computing and enjoy sharing the internet with anyone who wants to learn. I also love doing Technical Support for the people of MSWorld and if I bring even one smile to someone’s face in what I do, then I have truly succeeded in life.
I am no longer employed. I enjoy my time with my wife Mary and our newest addition to the family, a baby Queensland Blue Healer pup.
Roger
