"GRANDCHILDREN"

by Liz Minor, aka bizzylizzy

I wrote this poem for each of my grandsons, 4 and 7 yrs old, as a Christmas gift with a picture of each one with me. Each was framed and given to them as a truly personal gift from their "Grammy."

Now they keep it on their dresser in their room. I hope that it will let them know how special they are and how I really feel about them no matter how old they get.

I'm 54 years old and have been diagnosed with MS for over 17 years.  Wherever life's path leads them and when I am no longer here, I'll always be their "Grammy."

For Grant and Colton

I never thought I’d ever know
what joy a grandchild brings,
but every moment spent with them
is full of precious things.

Never will I ever fear
the absence of being loved.
I know that God has sent to me
two blessings from above.

I close my eyes and feel their kiss
so gently on my cheek.
Their spoken words of "I love you"
sustain me when I’m weak.

For now I see the truth in life,
my love for them is deep.
I’m thankful for each day with them,
my love is theirs to keep.
