"Close Enough"

Thomas M. Burgess
Feb 2008

So close, never to be seen,
still one needs to  believe in it,

So close, not a taste to it,
still one can sense it in the air,

Never to have total control of it,
it must remain free,

Only the act of setting it free
can one ever expect it to be near to it,

It is never to make a sound,
never to be heard as a clue,

Still it remains a beautiful sound
in one’s head,

Ever calling for a keeper, a teacher, a student,
never is it said,

Never having total control,

Always it must remain free.
