Ms. MS USA 1997

designed by Pat, a/k/a ARTIST

artist1.jpg

This doll was created in 1997 and is one-of-a-kind, made of "Super Sculprey" polymer, oven-baked clay. She was designed without help from guides, molds or patterns and was completely created by the artist. Even the body and dress are Pat's original design.

The concept started with a dowel and a ball of aluminum foil. The foil was wrapped around one end of the dowel, like a big round lollipop. A layer of clay was then wrapped over the foil and the head and expressions carefully modeled, with a neck and shoulders.

The hands, with forearms, lower legs and shoed feet were modeled over foil as well.

The clay parts were then baked in a 250 degree oven for approximately 30 minutes.

The body was then created with a wire armature, for posing, and stuffed with polyfill material.

The doll's face and limbs were painted with real face makeup, and her shoes were painted, as well. Assembled and dressed, she sits in a purchased wheelchair, with flowers and a tiara to complete the effect.

The creation of Ms. MS USA was inspired by all those who so victoriously have made their dreams come true, and live full lives, despite living with the day-to-day challenges of multiple sclerosis. Ms. MS USA's message is to "follow your dreams, whatever they may be". She represents all of the people, around the world, who have multiple sclerosis, and have the determination to serve others and not let MS become a reason for "giving up".

Ms. MS USA 1997 leaves you with one final message: "Continue to make goals for the future, live your life to the fullest and strive to make YOUR dreams come true".
