If you are looking for a book in plain English with simple answers to managing your MS symptoms, look no further.
Dr. Schapiro writes as if he is talking directly to the reader, making the message feel personal. As I read, I kept saying to my husband, "Oh listen to this!" because I was discovering simple solutions to try for everyday tasks.
In this new edition, Schapiro has added new information on the role of diet and nutrition, advances in drug therapies, new disease management strategies, new medical and research breakthroughs, a comprehensive glossary, exercises and transfer and mobility resources. All useful for people with MS and the people who help them.
Suggestions, including simple drawings, of how to transfer people from one place to another will prove helpful for caregivers. If you have ever found yourself having difficulty standing or getting up from the floor, his simple drawing and suggestion might be useful - it works for me!
The simple, illustrated exercises to relieve spasticity, are a good addition to any person's day. I have made my own resistance stretch band, used in these exercises, out of a pair of panty hose and include these exercises in my daily routine.
