In My Sister's Eyes

From Mary, aka Marmee, Ruthie's sister

In my sister's eyes, I was a hero
I was strong and wise and I knew no fear.
But the truth is plain to see
She was sent to rescue me.
I saw who I wanna be
In my sister's eyes.

In my sister's eyes, everyone was equal
Darkness turns to light and the world was at peace
This miracle God gave to me –
gave me strength when I was weak
I found reason to believe,
In my sister's eyes.

And when she wrapped her hand around my hand,
Oh, it put a smile in my heart!
Everything became a little clearer,
I realized what life was all about.

It's hangin' on when your heart has had enough.
It's giving more, when you feel like giving up
I've seen the light –
It's in my sister's eyes.

In my sister's eyes, I saw the future
A reflection of who I was, and what will be.
Though now that she left for a better place,
I'll raise a family,
And I hope she sees how happy she made me –
For she'll be here
In my eyes and heart – forever, Ruthie.

Gone are the days we used to share,
But in my heart you are always there,
The gates of memory will never close,
I miss you more than anyone knows,
With tender love and deep regret,
I will never forget you Ruthie.
