"Is There a Face Behind That Screen?"

Pat Gurney, a/k/a ARTIST
 © January, 1999

Hi, my friend. Here I sit, staring at the computer screen...the vast scene where I go to meet so very many special friends.

Is there a face behind those words I read so abundantly? Sure there is!

I see one of them now...my own...reflecting back at me from my computer screen. We are real, have feelings, needs and cares. We are all individuals, but are we really? We all have bodies, minds and cares. I know this for I see it all before me, as I sit in front of this computer screen.

At this very place, where I have chosen to be, we all share something special, a challenge in life in common. We have ms. Ms is not what we wanted, but what we must endure. Yes, I can say, "Thank You Lord, for giving MS to me!"

Along with my tribulations with this hideous disease, God has given me many blessings along the way. He has given me you, my friend, and so many others, too. He has given me strength to get through my days, love to share and the ability to see the little things...

important things... that normally we don't have time to see.

Today, I am proud. I made a new friend, and I made an old friend feel good. I feel good, loved and important, too. I took the time to see the dew on the grass and the bird flying to its nest. What beauty is there, if only we take the time to see.

If it weren't for having MS, would I stop in the middle of the hustle and bustle of daily life, with worries about the time? With those all so important things that must be done, would I have time to help my friend, or see the beauty right before my eyes?

Thank you, my online friends, whose faces I have never seen...with words so thoughtful and kind, they bring a tear to my eye. For you are surely there, comforting and helping me see. You are there for me!
