EarthlingOP MSWorld V.P. & Host

Dave with his buddy Bailey
My real name is Dave and I live in the Minneapolis, MN area. I've been a part of MSWorld since 1997 and have greatly enjoyed participating in the growth of this fabulous service for people with MS, their families, and friends.
About my nickname, it came from a company I worked for when I started using MSWorld chat. The company was EarthWatch so I picked a name that I would be sure to remember.
I've been married to the love of my life since 1985. She has been a rock-solid partner with me through thick and thin. We don't have children but we do have our beagle Bailey who is the smartest dog we know but don't most dog owners say that? He's helping me drive the boat in the photo above.
I'm honored to be a part of the management team at MSWorld and to have the opportunity to work with all the talented volunteers at MSWorld.
This is a very unique service to the MS community and I am continually impressed by the level of commitment and caring by the fabulous volunteer staff at MSWorld. I've had MS since about 1981 but was "officially" diagnosed in 1997. I use Copaxone which works great for me. My MS has been stable for over 11 years and of course we hope it stays that way until a cure is found. I have been a member of the Teva Advocate program since 2003 and have greatly enjoyed the opportunity to help others manage their MS.
My wife and I are both active in a number of volunteer areas but our favorite place is right here at MSWorld. In 2003, we helped to develop a new chapter of Fishing Has No Boundaries in Brainerd, MN. FHNB is a nonprofit whose goal is to open up the great outdoors for people with disabilities through the world of fishing. We had 35 anglers at our first event in 2003, 56 in 2004, 94 in 2005, 110 in 2006, 120 in 2007 and 2008.
I firmly believe that a positive attitude is the key to managing any chronic illness, especially given the unpredictability of MS.
MSWorld is my favorite place to visit anytime I need encouragement and friendly folks to talk with. We are a "family" in every sense of the word and I feel blessed to be a part of this great organization.
