I currently reside in the country – Bradyville, Tennessee. Yes, cows are my neighbors, but at least they don’t care how loud I play my music, or how I sing. My life is fairly simple, if you exclude my once a week clubbing. Ok…get those awful thoughts out of you mind, my clubbing includes a nice dinner and a trip to Wal-Mart. I have come to appreciate my simple life of spending time with friends and family.

I am an active member in my Church. During our health fair, I had a booth with information about MS. Like most of you reading this, MS is a large part of my daily life. I have good and bad days.

I was diagnosed with R/R MS in June of 1988. At that time, I was working for an insurance company handling the “problem” health care cases that needed to be fixed. Sad to say, I was only able to stay for a couple of years. The stress was too much for me. So, in 1991 the doctors retired me. Wow, at the age of 31.

My now ex-husband and I moved to Bradyville in 1992.

In 1999, I had surgery which left me in a full blown flare-up, and I found that my MS no longer affected just my right side but both. The Neurologist deemed that I had now progressed to SP/MS.

Even though MS is a large part of my life, I try to not let it get the best of me. For example, I take a yearly trip home. Home for me is where I grew up. I was born and raised in the Windy City (Chicago). I have to admit, my heart is still there. How could anyone not love a city that is so rich in culture (music, art, theater, museums), food (pizza, Chinese with no peas and carrots, and Gyro’s cut from the spit) and life (the whole town doesn’t shut down at 8:00 P.M.). They even have transportation.

I live alone – no children – and I’m currently on a waiting list for a service dog. I try to start my day with the best outlook possible, and I hope “All ya’ll (sorry I’m now a transplant Southerner) do too”. Oh, and in case you’re wondering, I’m 16 years old (ha-ha – at least at heart) really 46 now, single and own my own home.
