I slowed my blood

To catch my breath

In the summer breeze.



I watched the wildflowers

Blow on the prairie

Thinking of you.



I made a mental note

Of the milliseconds

As the sun moved.



I heard

Voices past

Swim through my mind.



I laid back

In the dirt

Watching the clouds.



Finding life

Snapshots

In a photo album.



Time

Moving way too fast

To ever touch.



My feet move

To the beat

Of my soul.



Urgent to live

Always searching

Reaching.



Forever grasping

At the grains of sand

That shift through the hourglass.



Leaving my footprints

For other dreamers

To trace.
