Hello!
I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis March 4, 2004. I have been a member of MSWorld since August, 2004. I grew up in Chicago and moved to the western suburbs several years ago.
Looking back over the many years of symptoms and missed diagnosis, I now realize that multiple sclerosis has been with me for 47 years. After being treated for back problems, I began to notice definite changes taking place in my abilities to function independently. My symptoms began with optic neuritis, followed by leg numbness, tingling, leg spasms, and finally drop foot on my right side.
I have visited many doctors and received several medical opinions, none of which were MS.
As luck would have it, I took my physical therapist’s advice and made an appointment with a neurologist. After meeting with the neurologist for approximately five minutes, it was suggested that I needed to be treated for MS with IV steroids, have an MRI, lumbar puncture, and several other tests. That afternoon I was admitted into the hospital, and the beginning of a new life and journey. I am currently on Copaxone, which is working very well for me.
I have three married children, two sons, a beautiful daughter and four grandchildren ages 12 to 16.
I have been with MSWorld as a chatter for about 18 months, meeting people and sharing our concerns.
I try very hard to provide positive thoughts to the chat room for people who are going through difficult times with their MS. This past summer, I was invited to become a volunteer host with MSWorld. I accepted this opportunity without hesitation and consider it an honor to be involved with a lady who had a dream to help people, like her, who suffer the debilitating disease, multiple sclerosis.
I trust your time with MSWorld will be as beneficial as mine has been. I look forward to meeting you on the Message Board or in the Chat Room.
Please send me and e-mail. I would enjoy hearing from you.
