"The Cane"

by Gliceria Ong

Yes, disability has always been a challenge
As a registered nurse I am used to
caring for patients
Now consider myself one
With MS as a dreaded verdict I admit.

I decided to go on no matter how hard
Life goes on like a twirling mad wind
Soon it will quiet down died down and out!
It will be stable and resume its serenity

There will always be another Winter, Summer,
Fall and Spring
For me, the world will always be forever round
It's only me that changed a bit,
But with MS will always be the happy me.

So will I ever be serene, mellow and cool
that's what is life for me now
Amid the fact that I am weak and disabled,
sometimes forgetful
After all, I still can run, strut and dance with
my best friend CANE.
