Meet Chris Baffer
Chris received his diagnosis of MS in 1978

Since I believed I had never really found myself professionally or personally, MS was never much of a loss.
Facing the prospect of life in a wheelchair was really terrifying. But I didn't know that the Internet would change everything. Now I go shopping, travel, do whatever I want – online. And a while back I rekindled an interest in something that I had always done better than anyone – that is art. When I was a kid, I was constantly engaged in various art projects, drawing, painting, cartooning – all incredibly good. The biggest mistake I ever made was leaving art school.
It's interesting that no matter how long a talent is neglected, it never leaves and with very little effort, comes right back.
So I started painting again. The medium I work with is appropriate to my physical limits.
My father had MS and as he wallowed in bitterness and self-pity. He served as a perfect negative role model showing exactly the WRONG thing to do.
At first, I began with small watercolors. After a fairly short time, I have participated in a couple of local exhibitions, have been the subject of a couple of local newspaper articles and sold a few pictures. Fortunately, when I stopped working I had been employed by a big company with substantial insurance benefits. So the money I make selling a few pictures is a nice little supplement to my regular, secure income.
So many people when they get MS think life is over. But for me, it is just beginning.
