Alive

by Tammy Svihla
aka taminy

Looking at the world, with brand new eyes,
Seeing the past fade into the distance.
Awakening with a smile to the brand new day.
Living in this moment,
Happiness my own to choose.
The scars have faded,
No longer am I jaded to the beauty of the sky.
The tears I cry are not of pain,
Of joy at being alive another day.
The morning dew, the stars at night,
Watching the grass grow. The simple things.
I am alive, with every breath I take,
An opportunity comes my way.
All I have is this day, this moment.
My choice how I use it.
I choose to live, to laugh and cry,
I choose to be alive.
