What makes this book different from other yoga books?

This book not only offers the expertise of long-time yoga student and back expert Dr. Fishman, but along with Eric Small, world renown yoga teacher, the two offer a book which encompasses every aspect of using yoga with MS, no matter where your disease has taken you.

Many people with MS remain ambulatory, or mobile, throughout their lives - as a matter of fact, the majority of people follow that course with their MS.

At some point, getting up and down from the floor to exercise may be too difficult and some will use a wheelchair/scooter to get around.

No matter where your MS places your physical ability, this book gives you options to exercise, relieve stress, stretch, work out spasticity, improve strength and range of motion, relax, improve balance and reduce fatigue. Things everyone needs to obtain wellness.

The chapters are divided into each category so you can move through the exercises you can do and on to those which challenge you more - ones you hope to attain after practice.

The tools are simple from a folded blanket, a chair, blocks such as phone books; pillows, five-pound bags of flour, rice or beans, and bathrobe ties. I see no purchase necessary to perform these exercises so we can feel better and improve our health. No cost but time!

The pictures are clear and explanation easily understood. If you are interested in more in-depth understanding of the yoga philosophy from nonviolence, truth, honesty, purity and more, this is included as well. The entire spectrum is covered for the reader.

Sitting here typing, where many of us spend hours in front of our computers, I did a couple stretches and felt refreshed. One would not have to do the whole gamut of exercises to feel the effects, although we should each set aside time to exercise as often as possible.

I recommend this book as a worthwhile purchase to use to increase our abilities to move throughout days better and take care of our bodies to make living with MS less stressful.
