My Friend, Music

Like an old friend that had to depart
My music remains, in my heart.
For many years I performed, with my guitar in hand
Once on the radio and once with a band,
I sang in churches, at rest homes and camps
Loving to make all those people smile
Sharing the music that God generously inspired.
God also was listening and guiding my steps
Knowing the time to cease did exist.
Now my music is silent but it dwells in my heart.
God all around me and in my soul
The music is His and it made me feel whole.
Now the silence is blessed, difficult to understand
Sympathy easily can get out of hand.
If sadness comes near you and tugs at your heart
Remember these words so tears may not start.
My joy, love and pain are expressed in my songs
And God, in His mercy, can never be wrong.
