"COURAGE"
by Thomas M. Burgess
2005

Finding a way to face the time

Even as it becomes more of a distortion

Waiting for some rest from it all

The night turns into day again

The rhythms are not always the same as one's watch and what it might say

The length of one's shadows may not tell
the entire story

Always, there seems to be more to it
than meets the eye

The struggle as an abstract, we still expect
a simple explanation

The struggle continues on to find the most elementary of all reasons

Throughout there must be courage, courage that allows for one to

continue to turn night into day

Through time, through strong distortions,

through having little or no information available

Just to have courage, the courage to see
many tomorrows

Finding a way to deal with this issue

Seemingly all just a random event as it passes

Making alliances with it, in return getting the rest
that one requires

The courage needed to turn the night into day
