    "Tongue Shocks Hasten Healing"

A team at the University of Wisconsin–Madison recently found that electrically stimulating the tongue can help patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) improve their gait.

    Interesting article.

    Hi Faith,

Interesting. My first symptom was left sided tongue issues: tingling, numbness, burning, feeling like I burned it with hot coffee, etc. But it's only one side. Over the years the symptoms have progressed and now I can't stick my tongue out, and the left side lives in a constant state of spasm, affecting my speech.

Here's why the article holds some credence, my tongue problems are caused by a brainstem lesion (medulla.)

My gait is and has been affected, yet I have no spinal lesions. So I'm thinking the tongue/gait/brainstem connection makes sense.

There are doctors that believe you can treat neurological symptoms such as ataxia by using oral devices to adjust the position of the tongue and jaw.

    Thanks for posting.

Who knew? I never would have thought this could be true.

should we lick a battery? Cannot imagine going through that therapy. Wonder how strong the current was?
