    Hi

I am a little bumed out.

Got my results from mri. It said there are more then 10 lesions on the right and at least 8 on the left side. There are at least 2 periventricular lesions on each side and a few juxtacortical lesions. Multiple white matter hyperintense lesions.

When they say at least or more or multiple must mean they stop counting eh?

Does this really mean I have ms? My gp is sending me to the ms clinic.

    Thanks

What did the "impression" part of the MRI report say?

Lesions are abnormalties, something on the MRI which shouldn't be there. There are many causes for abnormalties and only the Neurologist can tell you if it's MS or something else.

Best wishes and Welcome to MSWorld

      Hi Snoopy

The impression part says Multiple white matter hyperintense lesions. These fulfill the revised Mcdonald criteria her dissemination in space and are suggestive of multiple scierosis.

I am sorry this is happening to you.

This means that you probably have it, but they are not 100% sure until you are evaluated by an MS specialist.

Please make an appointment so that you can have further tests.

        What are your symptoms?

            Hi Copper,

Sorry you are going through this. Your referral to the MS Clinic will most likely include futher testing for a final determination.

Regarding the tickle in your throat causing intense coughing. I experienced this before other symptoms finally forced me to see a neurologist.

Your doctor may have a prescription for this, but I popped A LOT of Sucrets and Cepacol. I kept them at my work desk and just kept them going all day. I realized that the oral anesthetic numbed my throat and that helped me immensely.

I have thought back on this, and perhaps someone else has a better explanation, but I think the tickle in my throat was caused by a lesion in my neck area??? Maybe it was a constant vibration that felt like a tickle??? I have experienced vibrations and electrical-like shocks in other areas.

Anyhow, perhaps this can help you. Good luck.

            Bree

              I should also mention

after having this cough about a month, my doc ordered a chest xray to make sure nothing was going on -- all clear.

The Sucrets and Cepacol were my remedy. I tried various cough syrups also -- the Sucrets and Cepacol were my best remedy.

Again, good luck. Hope your cough subsides soon.

                Hello again

Well a MS specialist looked at my referral letter from my gp and the mri scan and said that the lesions were small and non specific and believes it maybe something else due to my other health issures.

I have RA and sleep apena. I had a heart attack last year.

So the ms specialist said a trip to the ms clinic is not warranted at this time and that i should see a regular neurologist.
I am still having these pin pricks all over my body that seem to be getting worse and i am really tired all the time .

I don't know what to think now my gp and the one who did or first interpret the mri still believe it is ms due to the fact where these lesions are.

I had all kinds of blood work to rule out other causes such as b12,D and any other related to lyme or lupus and such and the only thing came back was i have RA well we all knew that.

                So the wait continues.

                Thanks
                Copper

                  Hello and Welcome Cooper!

The waiting and not knowing is the hardest part. I hope you get answers soon.

I always put the blame on allergies for the tickle in my throat, but now that you mention it, I realize that it hasn't gone away with allergy meds. Interesting!

                  Be well!
When I can laugh at my experiences, I own them and they don't own me!

Well I saw a regular neurologist yesterday and he told me i had nothing to worry about as it is not MS.
The neurologist said the lesions could be from having a heart attack last year.

He also said that the pin pricks that i was having would not jump around like that in my body so it could not be a relate to MS.

He said that the pin pricks or shocks that i am having is caused by stress.
I went to the ER June 6th because of numbness on my right side of my face and he said that was from stress and prescribe me Venlafaxine .

He told me alot of people have lesions on the brain and that even he probably has a few lesions.

I don't think i have any more stress than anyone else has. I have an appointment with my gp first week of July and I am going to ask if I should get another opinion.

I don't want MS but I have a hard time believeing that these symptoms are cause by stress.

Anyone else going thru the same thing and should I get second opinion?

                    Thanks
                    Copper

I am in exactly the same place as you are.

I have an MRI that, according to the radiologist, fulfills the Revised McDonald Criteria (2010) for ms.

I've seen one neurologist (twice) who has suggested I have headaches.

I visited a stroke clinic, and the doctor there dxed me with migraines.

My family doctor referred me to three ms clinics. The ms specialist at one clinic looked at the stroke clinic notes, then called my doctor, asked him to refer me for a cspine mri and mra, but said he felt that would rule out ms.

I do now have an appointment at one of the other clinics in July.

Obviously I hope it's not ms ... but we've nixed all the other differential diagnoses at this point, so unless they come up with something very rare, or very random, I'm having a hard time believing headaches are a cause of my symptoms.
