Do you get extra for SSDI if you have kids?
I'm wondering if a person gets extra for SSDI if they have kids.
Also, does it help when applying to contact a congressman? Do they have any "pull" with social security? I have been told repeatedly to email or call a congressman and they will have a rep from their office "push your claim through". Any info would be appreciated. |

Hi, moonie1. A child can receive benefits if the parent is receiving Social Security Disability benefits if the child is under age 18 or age 19 and still in high school or 18 or older and disabled before age 22. Here is a link to some more information regarding this form SSA's website - http://www.ssa.gov/pubs/10085.html#a0=0.
