Hello everyone,

it occurred to me that, until the other day when I wrote a reply to a thread on the PP/SP forum, I hadn’t been seen on these boards for a long time – possibly, even years. You might wonder who I am, or – perish the thought! – think I’m rude. I needed to introduce myself...

I can’t actually remember if I wrote an Intro when I joined MS World but - as I can’t find anything saved - I think I should write something now.

My name is Virginia, I’m 59-years-old and my home is in London, UK. I was diagnosed with PPMS in 2001. I also have scoliosis.

I have an adult son who no longer lives with me (I do have a live-in carer) but stays often and helps a lot. I also have a toy poodle called Lucy.

I am a former journalist and spend most of my time now, on the computer, writing blogs and/or trying to write fiction. I used to write a lot more on forums but, you know, chronic fatigue...

I use herbal remedies, only (my son works at a medical herbalist’s), and I have a strong Christian faith. Those are the two things which keep me going.

And that’s about it. That’s me...in a nutshell!

I’ve been reading here for years, now I look forward to writing/contributing more and, hopefully, makng friends.

[/B]I checked, and I'm afraid there is no older intro for you here. The one you just wrote is excellent, though!

I have no Christian faith myself (I'm a Zen Buddhist), and I'm not on a disease modifying drug although I do take various herbal products and other natural supplements. I have four adult sons, all of whom participate in my care even though only one of them lives at home (basement apartment).

Please do post again, and post often!

Thank you, so much, for your welcome, Sequoia, and for looking for an old Intro. The fact that there isn't one makes me very glad I did write this.

And yes, I do mean to write often. Nearly every time I'm here I see at least one person I want to reply to. The trouble is, I'm slow...but I'll work on that!

He's 6'2" tall, has a full beard, and sounds like an entire herd of buffalo when he uses the stairs!

i like the basement kid reply,as i am a basement husband,just sending my evenings and weekend days down here on the puter,wife has her puters upstairs,shes more addicted to tv though,and tv puts me to sleep,i have had ms for 2 years,but am sure it was there long ago,as symptoms ,have been with me for years,i just turned 60 so i was never sure what was "old age",or what might be ms,almost constant back aches,and a leg that wont lift an inch stoped me from fishing and hunting,figuring swimming if boat tipped was not a good idea,and walking in the woods,would have scared everything away long before i got there,i lost my son 2 yrs ago to hodgekins,and as he did both with me,i dont care to go the the usual areas we did both in,and since i am a creature of habit,changing places wont be the same,so,i sit on the puter,,i still work,wish i could go on dissabilty,but since sittng is hard on my back,i will work till the boss wont let meok,sorry am rambling again,i will go,i did like your post

And I am so sorry 'rsunde8735' about the loss of your son. There can be no pain worse in this world.

I am so glad I started this thread, because now I am getting to know good people like yourselves, and can come here and chat!

like virginia07, I have not been online in a long time. So far my pattern seems to be popping in every couple of years.
I think I have a basic intro in the archives somewhere but as virginia suggested, I thought since I suddenly started posting again that I should say hello.

recap of my story is: diagnosed 19 years ago, manageable symptoms and episodes until 2008 when I had an episode that landed me in the hospital for over a week and bedridden for about 3 months. It took me over a year to make any recovery that I was able to make from that episode but I never completely recovered. The first time I applied I was approved for ssdi in 2010 (I think).

Since I moved to MO for the cooler weather and a supportive partner I have not had any episodes that required IV steroids. (although I've been down the last two weeks and I'm afraid I'm about to have to deal with that again)
